Women and girls worldwide have made some great strides over the past 92 years but we still have a long ways to go. Violence against women and girls continues to be a huge issue. It’s horrifying that 1 in 3 women will experience violence in their lifetime….just because they are female.

But the good news is that there is hope! The world IS waking up to the scandal of gender-violence and Soroptimists worldwide are determined that this issue will not be ignored.

Tackling an issue like violence against women is not just for Governments. It permeates and penetrates throughout society which means it is imperative that we raise awareness where we live, where we go to school, where we shop, where we gather in community centres and even with police authorities to influence and change attitudes. Soroptimists globally say NO to violence within society. Enough is Enough; End Violence Against Women and Girls.

As a world-wide organization, we are united in our efforts to share the work that we do, to benefit women and girls. Some of our projects may seem small and local, but collectively our impact is huge as we work together, sharing our expertise globally, learning from one another.

This report showcases that outstanding global activity of Soroptimist International. In Unity, Soroptimists globally impact upon the wellbeing of women and girls, through the diversity of individual programme work which is tailored to impact upon a variety of complex dynamics within our communities locally, nationally and internationally.

80,000 members have focused on a major scourge within society globally, and have embraced the aims and focus of the United Nations (Commission on the Status of Women) 57th session to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls. This report demonstrates the extent of this scourge upon society and the interventions taken to rid society of this violence. Soroptimists have been brave, extending their education programmes to include men and boys, to eradicate violence against women and girls.

Take this outstanding Global Impact Report and learn what Soroptimists around the world are doing; then be inspired to do more….because together we can and do make a real difference to the lives of women and girls throughout the world. We are women helping other women and girls to be their best and achieve their best.
