Intro & Summary

Educate, Empower, and Enable

bangalore-girls-at-schoolThis is how Soroptimists transform the lives of women and girls – from supporting one individual woman to changing community-wide attitudes to influencing international law, Soroptimist International can and does make a difference.

In these pages we show how small scale projects can, together, have a large scale impact.  Millions of women and girls have felt that impact since Soroptimists first started their work in 1921.  Now in 127 countries and over 3,000 communities, the impact grows and grows.  In 2012 alone, nearly 110,000 women’s and girls’ lives were directly improved as a result of Soroptimist work.

This year, we focus on violence against women and girls – now officially a worldwide epidemic.  Soroptimists have been working to push back the tide through prevention, protection, and support, with some amazing and inspiring results.
